How to use Find & Replace
- 1Choose your PDF.
- 2Type the word or phrase to find and what it should become. Tick “Match case” or “Whole words only” if you need them.
- 3Press Find in the file. Every line that contains it is listed with how it will read afterwards; untick any line you want to leave alone.
- 4Optionally pick a font. “Same as the PDF” keeps each line’s own font, size and colour.
- 5Press Replace and download the new PDF.
Questions
Does it find text in scanned pages?
No. A scan is a picture of text, so there are no letters to replace. The tool tells you when the word appears in a scan’s hidden text layer; use Edit PDF to retype that line, or make the scan searchable first.
Why was a line not found?
Lines are searched one at a time, so a phrase that runs from one line to the next is not matched. Search for one part of it, or use Edit PDF.
Can I change the font of the replaced lines?
Yes. Pick any of the 28 fonts and each replaced line is written in it. If a font does not have a letter you typed (for example Hindi letters in a Latin font), that line is left unchanged and the result says so.
