Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
Close, and easy to edit: lines are joined back into paragraphs, with the same fonts, sizes, bold, italic and colours, headings, tables with borders and pictures. Pages with a free layout (posters, forms with boxes everywhere, two columns) come out simpler than the PDF, so check them.
Can it read a scanned PDF?
A scan is a picture of the page with no text in it, so it comes out as a picture. Run Make searchable on the PDF first: its words are then read and come out as editable text.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. It is read and the Word file is written here in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened and changed inside your browser, on your own device. There is no upload step and no server that receives it. You can even switch off your internet after the page has loaded and most tools keep working.
