Questions

Will the numbers cover my text?

They go in the page margin, 12 mm from the edge by default. If a page has text right at the edge, choose a smaller distance or the other end of the page.

Does it work with rotated or scanned pages?

Yes. The number is placed where you see it on screen, even on pages that are stored turned sideways.

Can I number from 5, or skip the cover?

Yes. Set Start at to any number, and tick “No number on the first page” to skip a cover. “of N” then counts only the numbered pages.

Can I add a header or footer?

Yes. Choose Header & footer and type text in any of the six spots. Add the page number, total pages, today’s date or the file name, and they are filled in on every page.

What are Bates numbers?

A unique number on every page, like CASE-000041, used for legal and audit papers. Choose Bates numbers, set the text before the number, the start and the digits. To carry on in the next file, start where the last one ended.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is opened and changed inside your browser, on your own device. There is no upload step and no server that receives it. You can even switch off your internet after the page has loaded and most tools keep working.
