How to use PDF to Excel
- 1Choose your PDF. It must have real text in it (a PDF made from Word, Excel, a bank or an invoice system does).
- 2Pick One sheet or One sheet per page, and whether numbers should become real numbers.
- 3Press Make the Excel file. Look at the first rows to check the columns, then download the .xlsx file.
Questions
What kind of tables does it read?
Simple ones: rows of words lined up in columns, like a bank statement, an invoice, a price list or a mark sheet. It finds them by where the words sit on the page. Tables inside pictures, and text that wraps over several lines inside one cell, are not handled: a wrapped cell comes out on its own row.
Why is no table found in my scanned PDF?
A scan is a picture of the page, with no text to read. Run Make searchable on it first (it reads the words on your device), then use PDF to Excel. Check the numbers afterwards: reading a picture can mistake a digit.
Do the numbers become real numbers?
If you leave the box ticked, yes: 1,250.00, 1,23,456 and (500.00) become numbers you can add up, and 12.5% becomes a percentage. A ₹, $ or € sign in front is dropped. Phone and account numbers, codes with a leading zero and dates stay as text, so they keep looking the way they are printed.
A table runs over several pages. Is it one table?
With One sheet, a table that carries on over the next page continues in the same sheet, and a heading row repeated at the top of each page is kept only once.
Is the result exactly the PDF?
It is a careful reading, not a promise. Always compare the totals with the PDF before you rely on the sheet.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened and changed inside your browser, on your own device. There is no upload step and no server that receives it. You can even switch off your internet after the page has loaded and most tools keep working.
