Questions
What does it fix?
Gray or yellow paper becomes white, tilted pages are straightened (up to 6°), black scanner edges and lid shadows are removed, and small dust specks away from the text are cleaned off.
Will the file be smaller?
Usually, especially in black and white. Clean pages compress much better.
What about pages with real text?
They are left alone unless you untick “Only scanned pages”. Cleaned pages are pictures, so run Make searchable afterwards if you need to search them.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened and changed inside your browser, on your own device. There is no upload step and no server that receives it. You can even switch off your internet after the page has loaded and most tools keep working.
